Searching is a snare drum solo commissioned by Jade Hails.  
 
I: Unfold/Refold
The opening movement builds a texture out of rhythmic fragments that develop through the first half and recede to the end.  
 
II: Even is unEven
The second movement explores an unconditional sound world for the snare drum.  Fingers, superballs, and rhythm sticks are implemented to craft this quasi-theatrical central movement.  
 
III: A Point in Time
The most rudimentally inspired of all the movements, this music draws on several snare drum styles. Orchestral, traditional, and contemporary rudimental music weave together to create this final movement.
